Indiana All-Stars

Do you know who the top boy and top girl in Indiana High School basketball are this year? I do not even have a clue! It was not too many years ago that this was a big thing in Indiana. Do you remember who last years winners were? I don’t know that answer either. I could look it up, but I am not really that interested. I wonder why I’m not, so I thought about it for a while. I guess I came to the conclusion that it is another result of “class sports”. When there was a single tournament, everyone followed it and everyone knew all the players. Now as soon as your team is eliminated, you go about following the next sport on the agenda and move on. At least I do, and I think a lot of others do as well. No one apparently goes to the games any more because it is even hard to find out when they are and who wins them. Two years ago they did not have the 40 and 8 game because they could not find enough players to fill two squads. When the high school is eliminated, the players move on. When I was in school, you fought to get that state tournament ticket, and every high school senior player in the state stood outside Hinkle with his letter jacket on waiting to get in the gym. I doubt if half of the kids today know where the state tournament is played. Furthermore, I doubt if they care. Class what???
