The historic Valley House in Brookville will soon be under new ownership.

Brookville resident George Gillman placed a $23,000 bid on behalf of the Brookville/Franklin County Chamber of Commerce at an auction last weekend.

According to the Brookville Democrat, the asking price started at $75,000 but dropped to $20,000 at one point.

Gillman’s bid was enough to put the Valley House into the hands of the Chamber.

The plan is to remodel the historic landmark with retail units, small shops and a restaurant on the first floor and housing on the upper floors, the newspaper reported.
