Congratulations to the Greensburg Pirates for winning their 2nd consecutive IHSAA Class 3A Boys High School Basketball State Championship over the Bowman Academy Eagles with a score of 89 to 76.

The Pirates (28-1) were in control from the start. Despite committing 22 turnovers, The Pirates were able to shoot the ball well at over 56 percent from the field including 57 percent from beyond the arc.  Greensburg led by many as 19 points in the 4th Quarter, but BA cut the lead to nine with around 2 minutes remaining.  The Pirates did hold on for the victory.

The Pirates had three players scoring at least 20 points led by Sean Sellers with 27 points and 16 rebounds, Collin Rigney added 23 including four huge 3-pointers during the late 3rd Quarter and early 4th Quarter to lead Greensburg on a crucial 18-3 run, and Ryan Welage scored 21 points.  Bryant McIntosh tied the 3A State Title Game Record by dishing out 9 assists.

The Eagles (22-5) were led in scoring by Davon Dillard with 21 points.  Austin Daniels scored 14, Anthony Cole contributed with 12, and Arthur Haggard & Justin King put in 11 each with King grabbing 11 rebounds.  BA were denied the chance to win their 3rd State Crown and become the first boys team to win a title in three different classes.

Macy Holdsworth of The Pirates was selected as the winner of The Trester Mental Attitude Award in Class 3A Basketball.  Macy’s father, Scott, was elected to The Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame this year.

Congrats to The Pirates and Coach Stacy Meyer & his staff from The Sports Voice-Country 103.9 WRBI!

Thanks to The IHSAA for the information.
