Greensburg Edges Out FC In Girls Soccer

SoccerThe Greensburg Lady Pirates travelled to Franklin County Thursday night for a non-EIAC match with the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Pirates came away with a 3-2 victory after a competitive match on both ends of the pitch.

Kasey Moeller opened the scoring with a break-away goal 14 minutes into the match. Twelve minutes later Michaela Myers found the back of the
net off the corner kick assist of Sierra Aylsworth. The Lady Pirates carried the 2-0 lead at halftime as both teams were nearly equal with shots on
goal.

Back and forth aggressive play continued for both teams until Franklin County capitalized on the Lady Pirates missed marks and netted their
first goal with 12 minutes to play. Five minutes later Maddi Hellmich was able to find Moeller in open space for her second goal of the game. The
intensity continued to pick up by the hosts and they used a solid combination to score with a little over five minutes to play. The final five minutes
was intense and the Lady Pirates did an outstanding job to neutralize the attacks from the Lady Wildcats.

McKella Lynette recorded the win in goal making 12 saves of shots on goal for the evening. The Lady Wildcats outshot the Lady Pirates with 14-12 of shots on goal for the evening. Taking those shots for Greensburg were: Moeller, Myers, Aylsworth, Hellmich, Cara Zeigler, Abby Bausback and Danielle Schroeder.

The Lady Pirates will travel to East Central next Tuesday for JV and Varsity EIAC match. The overall varsity record is now 4-4-1 for the season.
