Tennis Pro Lisa King presents awards to participants at the Goodwin Tennis Camp Picnic at the TPA Park Shelter

Each June for the last 60 years Goodwin Funeral Home has conducted a Summer Tennis Camp for all  kids who want to improve their game.  Four year olds to 18 year olds celebrate summers by learning tennis techniques and skills twice each week for 4 hours a day throughout the month of June.   Tennis Pro Lisa King, Director of the Summer Tennis Camp this year, conducted the awards ceremony to honor all participants. The  menu at today’s awards ceremony at the TPA park?   Exactly the same menu tennis players enjoyed in 1953 and each year since…Hot Dogs, Chips, Drink and Glover Ice Cream.  “That’s a lot of Hot Dogs over the years” said John Miller of Goodwins.  Prizes were awarded to every participant and free cones from Dairy Queen were enjoyed by all.  For more information email lisaherndon1@hotmail.com or call 765-412-2398.  The Tennis Camp was started in 1953 by Bill Goodwin and Lester “Polly” Wainscott.
