Gelen Robinson

Gelen Robinson of Lake Central High School in northwest Indiana has announced that he will attend Purdue University to play football.  He is the son of Purdue’s All-American basketball star, Glenn Robinson.  Unlike his older brother who went to Michigan to play basketball, Gelen will follow his dad to Purdue.

He was a two-time state champion in wrestling, a state champion in the discus throw this year, and runner-up in both shot and discus at last year’s state track meet.  This kept Gelen occupied when he was not competing in his favorite sport of football.

The 6’1″ Robinson was a linebacker on Lake Central’s recent sectional championship football team.  He is already at Purdue University hoping to make an immediate impact at this position at Purdue.  It is good to see that the Purdue football recruiting team is keeping some of the state’s best athletes at home instead of letting them go to out-of-state schools.
