Gary Lee Kessens, age 64 of Batesville, Indiana passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville.

He was born on July 12, 1949 in Batesville to Virgil & Eileen (Klostermeyer) Kessens.  Gary graduated from Batesville High School in 1967 and also attended Versailles Vocational School.

On February 14, 1969, he married Cynthia Robinson at New Point Christian Church, in New Point, IN.  They were celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary the day Gary passed away.  He is a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads.  On Monday, February 17th Gary would have reached another milestone, marking 45 years of working for the Batesville Casket Company.

Gary will be missed by his wife Cynthia, children Eric Kessens of St. Paul, IN, Brandon (Christy) Kessens of Batesville and Kimberly (Shane) Grubb of New Point, IN, 8 grand children Miranda, Jacob & Carly Kessens, Kaitlyn, Megan & Samantha Kessens and Kale & Lucille Grubb along with brothers Robert (Joyce) Kessens and Kenneth (Diane) Kessens both of Batesville and his sister Donna Harrelson of Greensburg in addition to  many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Kathleen Krieger.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 4-8pm and Funeral Services will be Wednesday, 11:00am, February 19, 2014 all at Meyers Funeral Home, 1150 St. Rd. 46E, Batesville, IN.  Pastor Dan Wolford officiating with burial to follow in the Rossburg Cemetery, New Point, IN.

Memorials may be made to the Grandchildren’s Education Fund.

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.
