Food And Ag Transportation Monitored Last Week

Local and federal authorities were monitoring the transportation of food and agricultural products into the state last week.

The joint enforcement effort targeted commodities and commodity pests traveling west on I-74 from Ohio into Indiana at the West Harrison Weigh Station on May 20 and 21.

Over the two day effort, approximately 30 trucks hauling commodities were inspected for health and safety compliance with no major violations noted.

The enforcement was part of a continuing effort to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations as it relates to transportation.

Participating agencies included the ISP Vehicle Enforcement Division; Indiana Department of Health, Food Safety and Inspection Services; USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services; Marketing and Regulatory Programs Business Service; and local health departments.
