Floyd Franklin Lowe, on November 30, 2013, at the age of 95, Floyd Lowe, prepared to let go of this life in order to take hold of the next, peacefully left his home on earth and entered into his heavenly home, where he was met by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as well as family and friends who had gone before him.

Floyd Franklin Lowe was born January 6, 1918 in Williamstown, KY, the son of Ezra and Maude (Dance) Lowe. He grew up in Aurora, IN where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth North. On December 27, 1940 they married and together built a life with each other. They moved to Decatur County and settled in the Springhill area, bringing their four children up on a farm. They later moved to Greensburg and in 1963, they began what would become their shared life’s dream and enduring legacy, Lowe’s Pellets & Grain, where they worked together for over 45 years, until their retirement.

Floyd was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg. He enjoyed working at the mill, the many vacations he took with his wife in their motor home, supporting agriculture-related organizations and spending time with family and friends. Of all the success he achieved throughout his life, one of his greatest accomplishments was watching Lowe’s Pellets & Grain, the business he started and nurtured, celebrate 50 years in business this past summer. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and friend of the community.

He is survived by his daughter, Doris Maines of Akron, OH; sons, David (Patsi) Lowe of Amarillo, TX, Dale (Brenda) Lowe of Greensburg, IN; sister, Mae Marlow of Rushville, IN; daughter-in-law, Regina Lowe; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Lowe; son, Don Lowe; parents; sister, Ruby Luhrsen of Aurora, IN; brother, Ernest Lowe and one grandchild.

Visitation will be 4pm-8pm Wednesday, December 4 at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg. A memorial service celebrating Floyd’s life will be held at 11am Thursday, December 5, also at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with burial at South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Decatur County Community Foundation, Springhill Presbyterian Church and the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg.
