Elsie L. Lock, 85, of Versailles passed away at 1:30am Saturday, September 24, 2016 at her home. She was born at Revelo in McCreary County, Kentucky on July 31, 1931 the daughter of Marion and Nellie King Ross. She was married to Johnny Choate on June 12, 1965 and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1980. Survivors include two daughters Deborah Johns of Versailles and Kaye (Dale) Vanover of Pine Knott, Kentucky; 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; one brother Michael (Elizabeth) Ross of Deer Park, Ohio; one sister Evelyn Neufarth of Blue Ash, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by her son James “Rusty” Reed, one great great grandson Nate Ali and her sisters Essie Tucker and Georgia Ross. Mrs. Lock was a 1949 graduate of Pine Knott High School. She and her husband were former owner operators of the Court House Inn in Versailles and she had also operated the camp store at the Versailles State Park for 15 years. Her last job was as secretary for Paul Morris’ Bosch Lights of Versailles. Elsie was a member of the Cross Plains Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 27th at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Logan Fugate officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Cemetery at Stumpke’s Corner. Visitation will be Monday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Cross Plains Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
