EIAC Football

When the EIAC added Connersville and Rushville, the question of how to play the football part of the conference became a sticking point.  An anonymous member of the EIAC inner circle told me that Lawrenceburg did not want to play East Central, and East Central in return did not want to play Lawrenceburg.  At that time, Lawrenceburg was a 2A school and East Central thought they were going to become a 5A school.  The two schools felt that playing each other would not be beneficial to either school.  By the time the new schools were added, however, Lawrenceburg was 3A and East Central stayed 4A.  This same person surmised that East Central still was opposed to playing Lawrenceburg, and thus, the split was created for football only.  Schools in the 4A portion are East Central, Connersville, Franklin County, and South Dearborn leaving Batesville, Greensburg, Rushville, and Lawrenceburg in 3A.  Since East Central supposedly would not play Lawrenceburg, a 4A/3A conference format was created.  There will be a 4A winner and a 3A winner!  Watch for tomorrow’s article for my opinion on this split!
