Sunman has a new Clerk-Treasurer. Chelsea Eckstein, 22, of Sunman was sworn in last week to replace long-time official Kristina Schneider.

Schneider resigned from the position in mid-November following a misdemeanor conviction for Official Misconduct. She was forced to step down due to state statute.

Ripley County Republican party chairperson Ginger Bradford was responsible for appointing a new official to the position. According to The Versailles Republican, Bradford had thirty days to appoint someone to the position, leading to Eckstein after multiple discussions amongst each other.

A 2009 East Central graduate, Eckstein has education and work experience in banking and payroll. She will be her tenure full-time on Dec. 7.
