Driver flown to hospital after pickup truck slams into tree

(Letts, IN) – Several agencies responded when a pickup truck slammed into a tree near State Road 3 and County Road 500 South in Letts Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say the man driving the vehicle was not buckled up and was trapped in the wreckage before crews were able to cut him out.

The man was transported by ambulance to the Greensburg Municipal Airport where he was loaded onto the Lifeline medical helicopter and taken to an unidentified Level One trauma center.

There’s no word on the victim’s name or condition.

State Road 3 was temporarily closed during the rescue operation.

Responding agencies included the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Letts Community Volunteer Fire and EMS, the Greensburg Fire Department, Indiana State Excise Police, Westport Police, and Decatur County EMS.
