Dorothy M. Humbarger, age 78, of Metamora, Indiana died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville, Indiana.

Born March 9, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Earl A. & Ena (Hibbert) Humbarger.  She lived most of her life in Franklin County, Indiana.

Dorothy was a retired School Teacher, having taught art in the Franklin County Community School Corporation for over 30 years.  She was a member of the Franklin County Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include two sisters, Elsie Norris of Greenwood, Indiana and Susan Carol Kern of Camby, Indiana.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a cousin Larry Humbarger.

Friends & family may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Ave., Brookville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home.

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3183 is sponsoring an art contest for students in grades 9-12. The contest is a great way to earn money for college. The art must be on paper or canvas and have a patriotic theme. Digital Art is not accepted. The art must be original. Judging is based on originality, presentation, and patriotism expressed. There are monetary awards given locally and at the state level. The national winners will receive scholarships. Home schooled students are eligible, foreign exchange are not. Your entry must be signed by a teacher. You can obtain an entry form by calling Kay Pulskamp, chairperson at 934-3442. Please submit your art by March 31, 2015. The first place winner will be sent to the State Scholarships Chairman for judging. Your art will be returned to you after judging is complete.
