The 2014 Indiana High School Wrestling State Finals opening round got underway on Friday (2-21) at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse-Indianapolis.
East Central’s Max Dole was victorious in his opening match by pinning Joseph Mammolenti of Penn in 1:55 in the 170 # Weight Class. Dole will be battling in The Quarterfinals against Jordan Partee of Madison on Saturday (2-22). Dole’s season record is now an amazing 47-3.
Lawrenceburg’s Jake Ruberg’s sensational freshman season ended Friday in his opening match in the 138 # Weight by losing to Jacob Covaciu of Merriville by pinfall in 3:52. Ruberg finishes the season with a 40-2 record.
Colton Gonzalez of Connersville advances to The Quarterfinals in the 170 # Weight Class with a pinfall win over Jake Rickenbaugh of New Palestine in 3:06. Gonzalez will be battling Chase Osborn of Penn on Saturday.
