RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. – Conservation officers conducted a wildlife checkpoint on U.S. 421 in Napoleon Sunday and discovered multiple hunting violations.

The roadblock was intended to help enforce state and federal wildlife laws.

Officers say they checked a total of 354 hunters, 199 deer, 6 coyotes, 1 squirrel and 2 snapping turtles.

Common violations documented were improper or no transportation tags, improper or no affix of metal check station tags, falsification of license status, purchasing license after the taking of wildlife, processing deer before checking into State check station and possession of deer without proper documentation.

Other violations discovered by Officers at the checkpoint were operating while intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia.
