A Dillsboro man who allegedly overdosed on heroin along with his wife in the play area of an Ohio McDonalds on March 9, has been convicted of child endangerment. Robert Palmer, 37, was found guilty in a Hamilton County, Ohio court Thursday.

Police say Palmer and his wife, 33-year-old Tamica Jeffers, were found unresponsive in the restaurant and needed life-threatening treatment while their two children, a 5-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy, were with them.

Authorities claim the couple admitted to using heroin.

Sentencing will be held April 14. Trial for Jeffers is still pending.

On Sept. 3, at 9 a.m., the students, staff, and community of South Decatur Elementary School will walk, jog, and run their way toward a healthier life while raising funds for the PTO’s Playground Revitalization Project. The color run will be held at South Decatur Jr-Sr High School, and will be open to the public. This is an untimed fun run. Participants will pass through four color stations throughout the course and end with a massive color toss at the My Color Run Post-Race Party. Participants will be treated to refreshments, music, and fun following the run. Interested participants of all ages can register by visiting www.SouthDecaturMSCR.eventbrite.com, or by completing a paper registration form prior to the event.
