Dencil Short, age 84 of Milan, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Waters in Batesville.

 Born April 3, 1930 he was the son of Curt and Alta Slone Short. Dencil married Marlene Risner on May 2, 1953 and she preceded him in death in November of 1985. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. Dencil enjoyed his family and playing with all his grandchildren.

 Those surviving who will honor Dencil’s memory include; children, Becky Short of Milan, David Short of Milan, Ken Short of Brookville, Stanley Short of Milan, and Katrina Gayheart of Batesville; 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Carnell Short of Milan, Ida Bischoff of Milan, Linda Gunter of Milan, Corine Hammond of Sunman, Ruby Spurlock of Milan, Arlene Mundinger of Orlando, Florida, Marletta Green of Greendale, Racine Robinson of Milan, and Loraine Ernest of Richmond. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Avenail; an infant brother, Devon; and sisters, Areeda Calhoun and Una Faye Johnson.

 Visitation will be Friday, August 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman. Friends may also visit from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at Little Memory Baptist Church in Sunman on Saturday. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
