Cystic Fibrosis Walk Will Feature Olympian

Olympic medal winner Nick Goepper will make a stop in Batesville on Sunday in support of a good cause.

The Dearborn County native will make an appearance in the Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis walk at Liberty Park at 1:00 p.m.

Registration for the walk begins at noon and it is free to participate.

“Because of him, we were donated some money from the Lawrenceburg casino and I collected money at his homecoming after the Olympics,” said event chairperson Linda Schomber. “We invited him to show our appreciation for that.”

Goepper has a family friend who suffers from the life-threatening disease which affects approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States.

“Of course we would like donations but there is no charge to walk, and anyone is welcome to come to walk,” Schomber added.
