Country 103.9 WRBI and the 5 Oaks Garden Center are looking for our area gardners… who grow the big stuff and can tip the scale!

Anyone young and old may participate. Grow and show off your big
tomatoes, cabbabge, cucumbers,  zucchini and watermelons and you
could win  cool prizes from the 5 Oaks Garden Center. All weekly
produce must be turned in by Fridays at 4PM at the 5 Oaks Garden Center.
Our “Tip the Scales” winning categories will be determined by weight in
pounds and ounces. All judges decisions are final. Grand prize winners
will be announced on October 31, 2013 during WRBI’s live broadcast from
the 5 Oaks Garden Center from 11:00 am to 12:00 Noon. For more

Family members, caregivers and others interested in Alzheimer’s Disease and/or a related dementia are invited to attend a care and support workshop on Saturdays, July 23 & 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Margaret Mary Hospital’s Auditorium in Batesville. The workshop, What Families Need to Know…When the Diagnosis is Alzheimer’s Disease or a Related Dementia, is being offered by the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  Topics include the various types of diagnoses; stages and treatments of dementia; strategies to cope with daily challenges such as communication and behaviors; information about legal and financial planning including Advance Directives; and identifying community services such as respite and long-term care. Scheduled speakers and their topics are: July 23:  Dr. Kelly Napier, Clinical Psychologist for Dearborn Co. VA, “The Nature and Progression of the Disease;” and Kristin Cooley, Clinical Social Worker for the Cincinnati Alzheimer’s Association, “Changes in Communication and Behavior.” July 30:  Adrienne Flannery, Elder Law Attorney for Zerbe Garner Blondell & Weldon, LLP, Attorneys-at-Law in Lawrenceburg, “Legal Planning for Families”; and Kristin Cooley, Clinical Social Worker for the Cincinnati Alzheimer’s Association, “Family Coping Strategies and Community Resources.” The program is free of charge and open to the public. [...]
