Christine Brown, age 72, of Brookville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 11, 2013.

 

Christine was born April 9 1941 in Batesville, Indiana to Howard and Dorothy Ronnebaum Robinson.  She was a 1959 graduate of Brookville High School and lived her entire life in Brookville.

 

On November 28, 1959, she was united in marriage at St. Michael Catholic Church to Leslie Brown, and he survives.  She started out as a long distance operator in Cincinnati, Ohio and eventually retired from the Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio after twenty years of service.  Christine also retired from the Kroger Company in Batesville.  She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

 

Christine is survived by her husband of 54 years, Leslie, and their children; Jeff (Billie Jo) Brown, Cindy (Tom) Rader, Bill (Beth) Brown and Melinda Brown; six grandchildren and one great grandchild, all of Brookville.

 

Visitation is Monday, December 16, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 11:30-12:30 at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville.  A Mass of Christian burial, officiated by Father Sean Danda, at St. Michael Catholic Church will begin at 1:30, Tuesday.  Burial immediately follows in Sims Cemetery, New Fairfield..

 

Memorial donations may be directed to Hospice of Hamilton or a Charity of Choice.  Online condolences can be left for the family at www.cookfuneral.com

St. Louis Catholic Church is having their Mock Turtle Soup Sale! Monday, September 15- noon-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 16- 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 17-Friday, September 19- 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Sunday, September 21- during the annual St. Louis Church Festival, theMock Turtle Soup will be available for sale until it’s gone. Please enter through the Activity Center doors only! The soup will also be available through the week at Schmidt’s Bakery during their normal business hours. If you have any empty quart, half-gallon, or gallon jars you can spare (or canning lids and/or rings), you can bring them to the SLS Activity Center or Schmidt’s Bakery, as jars and lids are still needed to bottle the soup throughout the week.

Friends of Batesville Memorial Public Library is having their used book and media sale on Sept. 18-20, Thurs-Sat. from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. at the Library Annex on 10 W. Boehringer St.  Prices range from 25 cents to $1.  Special sale is $2 per bag on Saturday at 3 p.m. Over 8,000 books are available.
