Charles R. Rollins

Charles Robert Rollins, 92, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Charles was born January 3, 1925 in Rising Sun, Ohio County, Indiana to Rueben Hannaniah Rollins and Anna Eliza ( McAllister) Rollins. Charles was in the U.S. Army during WWII serving in France, Germany and the Ardennes.

Charles married Hazel Pauline Cutter on July 10, 1948. Charles worked construction for many years including construction of the Markland Dam. He also worked for and retired from Aurora Casket Company as an over the road truck driver. He was a member of the Dillsboro American Legion post for 66 years and also a Mason since 1963. He also is a member of the Moores Hill Church of Christ.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Pauline on June 3, 2002; son, Jerry Wayne, 1952-1952; parents, Reuben and Ann Eliza Rollins; brother, Harold; sisters, Mary Pearl Ascherman, Helen Smith, Betty Taylor, Wanda Pirtle and Patricia Rowlette.

Charles is survived by sons: Robert (Beth) of Aurora, IN, Dennis (Kim) of Osgood, IN, Randy (Jerri Lynn) of Moores Hill, IN. and Gerald/Jerry (Penny) of Lawrenceburg, IN, daughters, Connie Hoffman of Rising Sun, IN, Judy Pressley of Aurora, IN, Vikki (Gene) Autry of Milan, IN; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday, March 24, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street , Aurora, Indiana. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 pm.

Burial will be in the South Sparta Cemetery, Moores Hill, Indiana with private graveside services.

Military graveside services will be conducted by members of local Veterans Service Organizations.
