Catherine R. Grigsby, 86, of Versailles passed away at 3:44am Thursday, March 19, 2016 at her residence. She was born at New Marion on November 6, 1929 the daughter of Bernice and Eva Reynolds Chandler. She married Lee Grigsby on July 19th, 1947 and he preceded her in death on May 26th, 2008. Survivors include one daughter Chery (Leigh) Steele of Benham and one son Ernest (Denise) of Kent; three grandson Jeff (Brittany) Champe of Zionsville, Brian (Tabatha) Grigsby of Madison and five great grandchildren; one brother, Gene Chandler of Greensburg and three sisters, Elizabeth Worth of Cincinnati, Joann Dicus and June (Chester) Walker both of Versailles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother and three sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Grigsby owned and operated G and G Sporting Goods in Versailles for more than 35 years and she also retired from Seagrams after more than 25 years. She was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church. She also loved to be outside in her garden and loved to cook for her family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd, at 1:00pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Steven Mullins officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Tanglewood Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
