Case Dismissed Against Nurse Accused In Patient Death

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. – The court case against a former Dearborn County nurse has been dismissed.

Former Woodland Hills Care Center employee Kathy J. Hess was charged in February in connection to the death of patient 77-year-old Dionne Scalf last year.

Hess was charged with felony battery resulting in the death of an endangered adult, neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, and reckless homicide.

The case has dismissed without prejudice, meaning prosecutors could refile charges at a later time, according to the Dearborn County Register.
