Carl Robert Kelley, age 78 of Metamora, Indiana died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the BrookvilleHealthcareCenter in Brookville, Indiana.

 

Born March 1, 1935 in McKee, Kentucky he was the son of the late James & Molly (Creech) Kelley.  On March 1, 1954 he was united in marriage to Iva Woods, and she survives.

 

Mr. Kelley was retired from General Motors where he had worked for many years.

 

Besides Iva, his wife of nearly 60 years, survivors include a daughter, Carol Kelley of Versailles, Indiana; three sons, Doug Kelley of Metamora, Indiana, Carl Kelley Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Steve Kelley of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren, Alicia, Leonard, Dillon, Carson and Kaitlyn; as well as one great-grandchild, Aiden.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Kelley and Phillip Lee Kelley; three sisters & three brothers.

 

Family & friends may visit from 9 till 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.

 

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, with burial following in Maple GroveCemetery in Brookville.

The Batesville United Methodist Church, in partnership with Margaret Mary Health, will soon be offering a cancer support group whose goal is to ensure access to valuable community resources to those living with cancer. The group will also provide hope, encouragement, education and sanctuary. HOPE will meet on the last Thursday of each month at 5:30 PM at the Batesville United Methodist Church and will feature a guest speaker, time for topic discussion and fellowship. The Batesville community and beyond are invited to attend! The first session is scheduled for Thursday, June 26 and will feature a discussion around the emotional rollercoaster of cancer and the fear of recurrence.
