Cardinals Boys Basketball Results

basketballSt. Louis lost to Laurel Thursday night by a final score of 44 to 24.

Charlie Dice led St. Louis in scoring with 8 points.  Johnathan Deal followed with 5 points. Adam Cox and Jacob Deutsch had 4 points each. Evan Vogelsang rounded out the scoring with 3 points.

The St. Louis 7th grade basketball team hosted the visiting hoopsters from Laurel on Thursday night and came away victorious 50-30.

The Cardinals came out shooting well in the first half led by Kurt Siefert with three 3-point baskets and Riley Schebler also knocking in 3-pointer in addition to several other shots from the outside. Offensively the Cardinals did a good job of moving the ball to create some wide open looks, and on defense, the team defended well together preventing Laurel from any easy shots. The Cardinals took a 29-15 lead at half time and were able to finish the game with a 50-30 victory.

The Cardinals had several players make it to the scoring column as Jack Aplanalp had 2, Kurt Siefert 9, Wil Freeland 2, Riley Schebler 9, Andrew Oesterling 10, Karsen Macke 2, Lleyton Ratcliffe 8, and Same Voegele 8.

St Louis next game is this Monday at St Louis against Batesville. Game time is 6:00.

The St. Louis boys 6th grade team travelled to St. Nicholas and came home
with a 20-8 victory.

The Cardinals had 6 players make it into the scoring column with Kyle Salatin leading the way. Cayden Pohlman put up some points and really came through with a tough defensive assignment. Joseph Suttman, Ryan Reder, CJ Grote, Spencer Mack and Luke Wilson put forth a good team effort to keep the winning streak rolling.

The St. Louis Cardinals 5th grade boys basketball pushed their record to 6-3 on the season with a win over St. Nicholas tonight by a score of 30-12.

Defensively, the Cardinals shut down the offensive weapons of St. Nicholas and put on an impressive performance. The Cardinals only allowed two points in the first half! Offensively, the Cardinals demonstrated a balanced attack with eight different players scoring in the game.

The team was led in scoring by Ben Harmeyer (8), Conner Ertel (6), Noah Tuveson (4), Charlie Schebler (4), Luke Meyer (3), Aiden Geers (2), Cy Muckerheide (2) and Frank Forbeck (1). Another key aspect of the win was the effort of Nate Reder who played aggressive on both ends of the court!

The 5th grade will play again this weekend as they put their skills on display in the St. Louis tournament which will be held in the Activity Center on Saturday. The first game is scheduled for 9:00am so come out and cheer on the Cardinals!
