The St. Louis 5th grade boys basketball team played St. Michael’s Wednesday evening and lost by a score of 32-23.

The Cardinals struggled to break the full court press all night long in addition to the pressures of a hostile environment. The Cardinals made several runs to get back into the game, but fell short down the stretch.

Luke Meyer, Luke Meer, Jack Hollins and Aidan Geers made the most of their minutes as they led the defensive charge. Scoring leaders for the evening were Charlie Schebler (8), Conner Ertel (4), Nate Vankirk (4), Noah Tuveson (4) and Benjamin Harmeyer (3).

The Cardinals will wrap up their season next Wednesday when they travel to Greendale.

The St Louis Cardinals 7th grade basketball team hosted St. Bartholomew’s of Columbus last night and came away with another win 28-18.

The Cardinals played tough defense in the 1st quarter and shut their opponent out 8-0. However in the second quarter St. Bartholomew’s outscored St. Louis 10-7 so the half ended with the Cardinals leading 15-10. In the second half the Cardinals really picked up their defense shutting out St. Bartholomew’s again with no points scored for the quarter. The Cardinals continued to control the game in the fourth quarter and went on to victory by the score of 28-18.

The St. Louis boys 6th grade basketball team played on the road at St.
Michael’s in Brookville and with them brought nothing but focus and effort.
The young Cardinals overcame a relentless full court defense they have not
previously experienced the entire game and posted a decisive win 47-23.

Thomas Raver, Luke Wilson and Hunter Laudick lead in scoring that had all 7
teammates pouring in the points. Cody Mohr, Adam Vogelsang, Laudick, Wilson
and Raver were all able to run the point and break the press as well as
score at the rim. The final piece of the puzzle came together when Abe
Streator and Kyle Salatin (who usually play closer to the lane) were able
to come out and support the offense in the middle of the floor against the
press.

Very good fundamental ball handling, a tormenting defense, and
excellent rebounding by St. Louis made it difficult for the home team
Trojans to string together many scoring runs. One final look at the
scoreboard and it was easy to see the team was firing on all cylinders!!
