Bulldogs Win Thrilling Hoops Battles

batesville-bulldogsThe Batesville Freshman Boys Basketball team won a close game against East Central, 34-33.

Batesville had the edge after the first quarter, 14-9 and extended their lead by one point going into the half to make it 25-20. East Central came out strong in the third quarter, putting a lot of pressure on the Bulldogs and took the lead by the end of the quarter to make it 28-27. Batesville continued to battle through the 4th quarter as Charlie Dice hit 4 of 6 free-throws to closeout the game.

The Bulldogs had a very even offensive attack. They were led by Charlie Dice with 7, Cory Ralston 6, Shane Meer 5, Jacob Deutsch 4, Evan Vogelsang and Johnathon Deal each had 3, and Seth Gausman, Bill Lynam, and John Thompson each had 2 points.

Batesville plays Milan on Saturday at 10am at Batesville High School and Plainfield Saturday night at 6:00pm at Batesville Primary School.

What an awesome night for BMS basketball! Both teams won in overtime games against Sunman-Dearborn. The 8th grade won 68-59 hitting 6 big free throws down the stretch.

The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Calvin Sherwood with 21pts. hitting 4 consecutive free throws in OT.Trey Peters had 14 going 4 for five from three point land and also hit 2 big free throws in the final minutes. Alex Siefert added 10 with several rebounds and a great defensive game. Ethan Brewer contributed 8 with many big rebounds. RJ Powell also added 8 pts with 6 assists. Rounding out the scoring was Mason Barker with 5 and Austin(Ozzie) Cornn with 2. Pros Moorman and Jaden Peetz also contributed big minutes causing turnovers on the defensive end.

We will be back in action Tuesday at home against South Dearborn.

The seventh grade Batesville Bulldogs got a double over-time win over East Central Thursday night, beating them 40 to 37.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs in scoring was Eil Pierson with 15, followed by Cole Werner with 11, and Ean Loichinger with 7. Also chipping in were Travis Lecher with 4 and Zack Wade with 2. Leading defensiveley were Eli Pierson with 13 steals and Travis Lecher with 6 deflections.

The 7th grade Dogs are now 7 and 2 on the season.
