Bulldogs Take Charge Of ND

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead on North Decatur and captured a 12-2 victory on Thursday.

The game was decided quickly as the Bulldogs exerted their will early with nine runs in the first three innings.

An RBI single by Connor Schuck, a steal of home by Zach Britton, and a fielder’s choice during the first inning and a groundout by Wyatt Scheblerand a two-run home run by Britton in the second inning helped the Bulldogs put some runs on the board early.

Britton had three extra-base hits for the Bulldogs.

North Decatur couldn’t get anything going as long as Brett Westerfeld was pitching. Westerfeld held North Decatur hitless over four innings, allowed one earned run, walked six and struck out four.

Britton, Jacob Wilson and Leo Enneking helped lead the Bulldogs. They combined for eight hits and three RBIs.

Alex Crume was the game’s losing pitcher. He allowed nine runs in three innings, walked none and struck out none.

The Bulldogs piled on three more runs in the bottom of the third. A error scored Jacob Wilson to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Enneking’s single, bringing home Jacob Vogelsang.

The Bulldogs quickly matched North Decatur’s strong inning with a two-run inning of their own in the fifth. The Bulldogs scored on a wild pitch, a wild pitch, a wild pitch, and a wild pitch.
