Bulldogs Sweep Trojans On The Diamond

BaseballGAME ONE:

The Batesville Bulldogs beat East Central (St. Leon, IN) 10-4 in seven innings on Friday at Liberty after a six-run explosion in the sixth inning, which was the first game of the annual double header.

The Batesville Bulldogs scored in the sixth on a walk by Trey Heidlage, a two-run single by Jacob Wilson, a wild pitch, and an RBI single by Joe Bohman.

Heidlage pushed the Batesville Bulldogs ahead, in the sixth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. Bohman walked to get on base in the sixth. He then went from first to third on a double by Leo Enneking.

Heidlage racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Batesville Bulldogs.

Zach Britton got a hit in each of his two at bats. He is hitting .522 on the year.

Jacob Wilson recorded the win for the Batesville Bulldogs. He allowed four runs over seven innings. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered eight hits. This makes the senior, Wilson, 5-1 on the year with a 1.94 ERA.

Vogelgesang was the game’s losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out two.

The bottom of the first saw the Batesville Bulldogs take an early lead, 2-0. Heidlage kicked things off for the Batesville Bulldogs with a single. A stolen base then moved Heidlage from first to second. Jacob Wilson singled, plating Heidlage. The Batesville Bulldogs added more runs when Britton scored on an error.

GAME TWO:

Leo Enneking started on the mound, which resulted in the Batesville Bulldogs to a 3-0 victory over East Central on Friday at Liberty. Enneking kept East Central off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up three.

Mitts couldn’t get it done on the mound for East Central , taking a loss. He lasted just seven innings, walked two, struck out eight, and allowed three runs.

The game was never in doubt after the first, as the Batesville Bulldogs scored two runs on a two-run double by Jacob Wilson. This makes 13 games straight in which the Bulldogs have been the first to score in the game.

The Bulldogs added one more run on a bases loaded walk by Zach Britton in the top of the seventh to seal the victory.

The two wins at Liberty Park make the Bulldogs 8-5 on the year and 6-4 in the EIAC.
