Bulldogs Results At EIAC Cross Country Meet

Cross CountryThe Batesville Cross Country Team traveled to Franklin County Saturday morning to compete in the Conference Meet.

The Bulldogs came up a little short for both the boys and the girls as the East Central Trojans claimed both championships.   Congratulations to Steve Cotherman and his teams for great performances!

For the boys East Central scored 60 points, 4 points ahead of South Dearborn at 64. Taking 3rd place was Greensburg with 71, closely followed by Batesville with 74. Rushville came in 5th with 83, then Connersville at 132 and 7th place was Franklin County with 189.

Leading the dogs was senior Connor Bell coming in as the Conference Runner-up at 17:25. Also making the All-Conference team was senior, Clay Yeaton, crossing the line in 7th place and running a personal best at 17:43. Other scorers for Batesville were Quinten Gowdy, 16th, Grant Meyers, 24th and Brice Keeton, 25th. Alex Batta and Elliott Main also ran varsity for the dogs placing 32nd and 38th respectively.

On the ladies side, Batesville fell just 4 points short of East Central’s 49 point win with 53. Coming in 3rd was Greensburg at 64 points. They were followed by Rushvlle, 4th with 100, followed closely by Connersville in 5th with 103 points. Finally South Dearborn and Franklin County was 6th and 7th with 131 and 210 points.

The Bulldogs were led by Sophomore Emma Gausman with a personal best performance putting her in 4th place at 20:42. Also making the All-Conference team was Mary Potrack crossing in 6th at 21:04, Maria Wessel in 12th at 21:52 and Audrey Weigel, 13th at 21:56. Also scoring for the dogs was Kaite Baumer in 18th. Sarah Poltrack and Madeleine Robben finished out the varsity squad finishing at 20th and 21st respectively.

The JV meet honored the top 10 for County awards and the Batesville girls claimed 8 of the 10 of these spots. They were led by Kylie Lehman winning the JV meet at 23:11. She was followed by Carly Fitzpatrick and Audrey Maupin crossing at 2nd and 3rd. Other Bulldogs in the top ten were, Cheyenne Laker, Anna Kick, Bre Hartman and Mary Catherine Barnett taking the 5th-8th places and Heidi Shaw with a strong finish for 10th. Although no boys were in the top 10, Will Sittloh ran a personal best.

The Bulldogs will be busy this week as they host their Batesville Invitational and will also be honoring their seniors 14 seniors.  Then on Thursday they will finish out the regular season as they will travel just down the road to Greensburg for their invitationals.
