Bulldogs Middle School Teams Tames Lions

Basketball HoopsThe Batesville 7th grade basketball team beat Rushville 44 – 37 on Tuesday night.

Colt Meyer led the scoring with 19 points. Dempsy Bohman added 7 points and 5 steals, while Seth Gausman contributed 6 points and led with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Also scoring were Shane Meer with 3 points, Clay Grunkemeyer, Jake Cruse, Drew Kiefer, and Alex Smith with 2 points and Brayden Linkel with one.

The Bulldogs are now 10 – 3 on the season.

The 8th grade won a thriller over Benjamin Rush 32-30 and the Dog Pound.

Rush opened up a quick 7-0 lead early but the Dogs battled back to be down 11-8 after the 1st Q. They then outscored Rush 7-2 in the 2nd Q. with a good team defense to lead by 2 points at the half. In the 3rd Q. BMS outscored BR 9-7 to lead by 4 points. The 4th Q. was nip and tuck and it was Cooper Williams that hit a big 3-pointer with 7 seconds left to put the Dogs back up by 2 points and they held on to pull out the victory.

Top scorers for BMS were Cooper Williams with 9 points, Austin Siefert, Trey Heidlage and Sam Haskamp each had 7 points, and Tyler Myers had 2 points with several key rebounds.

Overall it was a great team effort. BMS is now 10-3 on the season and will play at North Decatur this Saturday at 10:00am.
