Bulldogs Girls Cross Country Team Runners Up In EIAC

Cross CountryThe Batesville Girls Cross Country team traveled to East Central Wednesday night after a postponement from Tuesday night to compete for the Conference Championships.

The weather was much better than Tuesday night with beautiful skies and sunshine, but it also brought some wind. The girls all ran really good races and I am so proud of them all. However, they fell just 4 points shy of being crowned the Conference Champs as Connersville beat them with a score of 43 to Batesville’s 47.

Kelsey Gausman was the top runner for the Dogs and was the Conference runner up at 20:21. She was followed by 5 other teammates who were also named to the All-Conference team. They were Mary Poltrack, 9th, Maria Wessel, 11th, Sarah Poltrack, 12th, Emma Gausman, 13th and Katie Baumer, 15th. Also running varsity and coming through at a strong 23rd was Kylie Lehman.

The JV had a very stong showing as well with Madeleine Robben coming in as the overall winner with a time of 23:17. Other Bulledogs finishing in the top ten were Molly Weigel, 3rd, Mary Catherine Barnett, 4th, Candice Roell, 5th, Jamie Day, 6th, Sarah Canady, 7th and Heidi Shaw, 10th. Getting close to that top ten were Liz Cuttle at 13th and Bre Hartman 14th.

Two Bulldogs ran a personal best for the evening as well and they were Candice Roell and Sarah Canady, both beating their old personal best by
11 seconds.

The girls now have only 2 days to prepare for Sectional competitiion Saturday morning at 10 AM at South Dearborn.
