Bulldogs Football Teams Earn Victories Over Panthers

FootballThe Batesville Freshman and JV squads started of their respective seasons with wins over Jennings County.

Batesville Freshman Football team opened the season with a 16-12 win at Jennings County.

Trey Heidlage connected with Devin Scripture for a 2 yard pass with 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter to give the Bulldogs the lead including running in the 2 pt conversion. Heidlage also scored Batesville’s first TD with a 5 yard TD run as he also scored the 2 pt conversion by running the ball. Both touchdowns of the game came on 4th down.

Stephanie Nobbe and Danny Aylor provided great runs to help the Bulldogs score on their scoring drives. Devin Scripture lead the team in receiving including over 60 yards receiving.

Defensively, Heidlage and Luke Belter led the team. Alex Plemons recorded a sack and Austin Siefert did a great job in pass coverage. Siefert also did a great job returning punts to give Batesville great field position late in the game to set up their game game-winning scoring drive.

Batesville will play at home next Monday at 5:30 against South Decatur’s JV.
