Bulldogs Cross Country Season Opener Successful

Cross CountryThe Batesville Boys and Girls Cross Country team hosted their opening season meet and they both got off to a 3 and 0 start on Thursday night by defeating Greensburg, North Decatur, and South Decatur.

On the boys side, the Bulldogs finished with 25 points while Greensburg came in second with 54, followed by South with 80 and North with 85. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Junior Caleb Moster and Senior Connor Bell. The two came in first and second respectively with times of 17:30 and 17:42. Also running well for Batesville were Clay Yeaton who came in 6th, Brice Keeton in 7th, Grant Meyers in 9th and Quentin Gowdy in 10th.

For the girls, Batesville finished with 33 points just ahead of Greensburg with 38, followed by North Decatur with 59
and South was incomplete. Leading for the Dogs was Junior Mary Poltrack coming in 2nd with a time of 20:14. Others running well were Maria Wessel who came in 6th, Sarah Poltrack, 7th, Audrey Weigel, 8th and Katie Baumer, 10th.

Also, a congratulations goes out to Greensburg’s Shelby Pake who ran a new meet record as well as a new school record, with a very good time of 19:27.

For the Bulldogs, this was a great start to what will hopefully be a very fun and exciting season. Batesville competes again next Saturday at the Rushville Invitational.
