Bulldogs Cross Country Results At The Big Blue Invite

Cross CountryThe Batesville High School Boys Cross Country Team traveled to North Vernon Tuesday night for the Big Blue Invite hosted by Jennings County.

Of the 8 Boys’ teams, Batesville came in third place with 82 points. They were behind Jennings County who came away with 57 and Austin with 64. The boys were led by Connor Bell who came in 4th place with a time of 17:21. Following Connor was Clay Yeaton who ran a personal best time of 17:49, which put him in 9th place. Next up were Quinten Gowdy and Brice Keeton who ran 20 and 24th place respectively. Taking the final scoring position for Batesville, in 32nd place, was Alex Batta. Rounding out the varsity roster for Batesville were Grant Meyers and Jackson Wooldridge.

The girls ran amazing with all 5 of the scoring Bulldogs running in the top 10. In fact all seven runners were in the top 20! They were led by Mary Poltrack, crossing the line at 20:18 and coming in runner up. She was followed by teammate, Emma Gausman,
taking 3rd with a time of 20:54. Maria Wessel and Audrey Weigel took the 5th and 6th spots exactly one second apart at 21:44 and 21:45 respectively. Katie Buamer stepped up to be the final scorer crossing through at 22:15 in 9th spot. The last two runner for the dogs were Kylie Lehman in 14th and 22:44 followed by Madeleine Robben placing 18th at 23:11. As a team, Batesville scored a low 25 points capturing the championship out of 10 teams. The second place team’s, Jennings County, score was 61.

There was an “open” race following the varsity and all though it was not scored, Batesville took some top spots with Audrey Maupin winning the girls race with another personal record performance of 23:10. She was followed by teammate Carly Fitzpatrick, also running a personal best (23:50), then Molly Weigel and Bre Hartman. The boys were led by Derek Nobbe finishing in the top 10 with a personal best of 20:53. Also running personal bests for the night were: Josh Nobbe, Nikki Elkins and Samantha Heidlage.

The Bulldogs travel to Moores Hill Elementary School on Saturday morning to compete in the South Dearbon Invitational.
