Bulldogs Cross Country Champs At South Dearborn Invitational

Cross CountryCongratulations to both the men and women’s Batesville Cross Country team as they both came out victorious Saturday at the South Dearborn Invitational! Although the meet was divided into two divisions, when combined together, the Bulldogs still would
have been the champions.

Batesville was in the Division I competition and the boys scored a very low 35 points beating 7 other teams in this division. Coming in 2nd was Jennings County with 66 and 3rd was Greensburg at 93 points.

Leading the way for the Dogs were Caleb Moster and Connor Bell coming in 1st and 2nd respectively with times of 17:01 and 17:05. Brice Keeton crossed through at a personal record time of 17:38 and at 7th spot. He was closely followed by Clay Yeaton, also running a
personal best at 17:48 and Quinten Gowdy tying his personal best at 17:56 and finishing 16th. Also running varsity for the boys were Grant Meyers, 27th and Alex Batta, 32nd.

The ladies scored 47 points beating 8 other teams with the next three teams separating themselves by only 2 points.

Ryle and Greensburg tied at 72 points with Ryle taking the 2nd place spot from their 6th place runner. 4th place went to Jennings County with 74 points. The Bulldogs were led by Mary Poltrack, Maria Wessel and Emma Gausman crossing the line at 5th, 6th and 7th. Maria Wessel ran a personal record and finally breaking that 21 minute barrier at 20:55. Running at 14th and 15th were Sarah
Poltrack and Audrey Weigel. Also running varsity for the girls were Katie Baumer, 22nd and Kylie Lehman, 25th.

The JV race was not team scored, but the top 20 runners got awards. Between the boys and the girls, Batesville claimed 10 of them and also claimed the top spot for both the boys and the girls. Jackson Wooldridge ran a personal best of almost 30 seconds
at 19:18 and crossed the line first for the boys and Madeleine Robben for the girls just beating her teammate Carly Fitzpatrick as they came in 1st and 2nd at 23:12 and 23:13. This was a personal best for Carly by over 30 minutes.

Also getting awards for the Bulldogs were Elliott Main at 9th and Derek Nobbe 19th for the boys. For the girls, Anna Kick crossed the line in 4th running a personal best by over 50 seconds. She was followed by Audrey Maupin and Bre Hartman finishing at 5th and 6th. Other award winners were Heidi Shaw at 14th and Mary Catherine Barnett finishing at 16th. Samantha Heidlage also ran a personal best.

The Bulldogs have a week off this week as they prepare for the Conference meet on Saturday at Franklin County at 10am.
