LIBERTY – Another area lake has been included in Indiana’s advisory list for blue-green algae. The lake at Whitewater Memorial State Park was tested last week and results led to advisory warning.

Two swimming beaches at Brookville Lake were placed on the list last month.  Levels at Mounds and Quakertown state recreation areas are still higher than the recently added Whitewater Lake.

Swimming and boating are still allowed at both locations. Blue-green algae can produce toxins that cause rashes, skin and eye irritation, nausea, stomachaches, and tingling fingers and toes.

An advisory status means precautions should be taken, especially for children and pets.
