Balloons and clown shoes are coming to Batesville Intermediate School. The school PTO will host a family fun carnival on Saturday Jan., 18, from 1-4p.m. The Winterfest Carnival is the primary fundraiser for the school.

It is planned as a day of fun for both BIS students and their families.

The afternoon will feature different games like football toss, duck ponds, penguin fling, plinko, balloon Darts, face painting, jail cell and others. The PTO has also incorporated some physical challenges as well. Food will also be available. There will be snow cones, cotton candy popcorn, water and orange drink.

Everything is purchased with tickets by contacting PTO President Mari Mause at 212-1527. Tickets are 50 cents each and will also be available at the door.

The funds raised by the Winterfest Carnival will be used to support students at Batesville Intermediate School. Money will help fund classroom field trips, teacher allotments, End of Year Grade 5 Celebration, Principal’s Century Club and many other student activities. The PTO also provides funding for field trip busing and other classroom support.

“Teachers pay for lots of classroom supplies out of their own pockets,” BIS PTO President Mari Mause said. “The PTO does not provide enough money to teachers for ALL supplies, but we try to help as much as we can.”

It takes a lot of people to help make the carnival a success. Volunteers are always needed to operate games, cleanup, set-up, food sales and preparation. Volunteers are encouraged to contact Mari Mause if they can come and help with the carnival.

“It doesn’t have to be for the entire time, we appreciate any time you can volunteer,” Mause said.

“The PTO appreciates your support of our students and staff at Batesville Intermediate School and hope you families will join us for the Winterfest Carnival,” she added.

If you would like further information or can volunteer, please contact: Mari Mause at 812-212-1527.
