WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. – A Batesville resident was involved in an interstate accident between a vehicle and mowing tractor that put a Tennessee driver in the hospital.

An elderly Tennessee man was traveling in a Toyota 4-Runner on the Edward T. Breathitt/ Pennyrile Parkway in Western Kentucky late Tuesday afternoon when it collided with a mowing tractor, The Gleaner reported.

The tractor was operated by Jose Garcia, 42, of Batesville. He was in the process of crossing a bridge to continue mowing the median. Authorities say the 4-Runner struck the tractor from behind.

The Tennessee man was taken to an Evansville hospital for treatment. Garcia was not injured, police said.

Both occupants were wearing seat belts.
