Batesville Man Facing Charges After Traffic Stop

A Batesville man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses after a traffic stop Thursday.

Batesville Police Officer Danny Hamilton stopped a vehicle on Smith Street at 7:15 p.m. after recognizing the driver as having a suspended license, Chief Stan Holt said.

As the officer approached the vehicle, the suspect attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended. A subsequent investigation led police to allegedly discovering drugs and paraphernalia.

The driver, Michael Henretty, 36, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine (class D felony), Reckless Possession of Paraphernalia (class B misdemeanor), Resisting Law Enforcement (class A misdemeanor) and Driving While Suspended with a prior (class B misdemeanor).

He was taken to the Ripley County Jail where bond was set at $2050.
