The Batesville 6th grade team traveled to South Decatur High School and defeated Waldron by a score of 58-21.  The Bulldogs jumped out to an 11-0 start with an aggressive full court press that yielded five unanswered buckets with each starter scoring.  The Bulldogs removed the press the remainder of the game and focused on man to man half-court defense in addition to running new offensive schemes.  Everyone on the roster managed to score for the Bulldogs – Benajamin Harmeyer (15), Nate Vankirk (13), Noah Tuveson (8), Jackson Renck (6), Conner Ertel (6), Charlie Schebler (4), Alec Bunselmeier (4) and Lyle Oesterling (2).

The Bulldogs saw stiffer competition in the second game of the afternoon as they faced a very quick and defensive minded team from Lawrenceburg.  The Bulldogs came out on top with a 34-33 win.  The Bulldogs uncharacteristically struggled with transition basketball as they turned the ball over way too many times and missed several easy buckets.  The team was happy with the win, but very disappointed in the effort.  Leading the Bulldogs in scoring were Charlie Schebler (11), Benjamin Harmeyer (10), Conner Ertel (10), Alec Bunselmeier (2) and Jackson Renck (1).

The 6th graders are now (6-0) in Dirt Road League and are in action next on Sunday, December 11th at the East Central Fieldhouse where they will play Shelbyville at 2:00 PM and North Decatur at 4:00 PM.

The 5th grade Bulldogs traveled to Jac-Cen-Del High School and defeated North Decatur 31-10 in their first game of the day.  The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 10-0 lead on the Chargers taking an 18-3 lead at the half.  Conner Drake led the team in scoring with 10 points, while Jack Grunkemeyer added 9 and Landon Oldham 5.  Grunkemeyer pulled down 7 rebounds, while Brendan Heiser and Sam Johnson dished out two assists.  Gus Prickel was solid on defense against speedy Kaden Muckerhide from North Decatur.

In game two the Bulldogs played a hard fought, physical contest against the Rushville Lions and came away with the victory, 23-17.  The game went down to the wire as the young Lions made it a two point contest with a three pointer from the top of the key with under two minutes remaining.  After a time out by the Bulldogs, the team kept its composure against the full court press and put the game away with great ball handling and defense.  Grunkemeyer led the team in scoring with 9 and Chris Lewis had 5.  Grunkemeyer remained a horse in the lane garnering another 7 boards for the squad, while Prickel and Lewis each added an assist.
