Batesville Council Approves Appropriation Reduction

batesville-logo-300BATESVILLE, Ind. — At Monday night’s meeting the City Council approved an appropriation reduction.

Council Clerk-Treasurer Paul Gates, says that the appropriation reduction is required by the state, for the state to approve the city’s 2017 budget.

According to Gates, this does not mean that no more or less money will be spent.

In other new business, Mike Baumer requested for money from the Belterra Fund to install a new flag pole at Liberty Field.

Baumer requested $800 to replace the pole.

Baumer said that the parks department is doing fundraising to try to replace the pole, and is planning on raising the money before the next meeting, so as to not use the Belterra Funds.

No vote was made on the funds request.

The Board of Works also approved 3 different street closures for upcoming events.

The YMCA requested a closure for their annual Turkey Trot on November 24.

The city will also close a few streets for the Tree lighting on December 1.

The third request was from the Gibson Theater for December 3.

In other new business, the Board of Works also approved a contract to replace a slip liner for the waste water treatment plant.
