Batesville at EC Indoor Track Meet

Saturday opened up the beginning of the 2014 track season with the annual EIAC Indoor Track Meet hosted by East Central. All conference teams were present except Rushville.   This is not a team scored meet, but individual awards are given.

Batesville brought home four first place finishes. Two were by Ginny Westerfeld in the 55 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. Ginny also set new meet records in both of these events. She broke her own record in the 55m dash of 7.83 with a time of 7.56 and in the 200m dash she broke the old time from 2008 of 28.40 with her time of 28.26. Way to go Ginny! Other first place finishes go to Peter Heil in the 400m dash with a time of 57.46 and Mary Poltrack in the 1600m run at 6:11.45.

Several Bulldogs turned in runner up performances and they went to:
Kelsey Gausman-800m run (2:45.62)
Grace Yeaton-1600m run (6:12.15)
Peter Heil-55m dash (7.03)
Tom Chaffee-high jump (6’0″)…this was also a new personal record for Tom…way to go Tom!
4 x 800 team of Grace Yeaton, Mary Poltrack, Sarah Poltrack and Kelsey Gausman (11:18.27)
Sprint Medley team of Madeleine Robben, Alison Muckerheide, Beth Werner and Ginny Westerfeld (2:03.45)

3rd place finishes were:
Cassie Reverman-shot put
Clayton McKinley-high jump
4 x 400 team of Garrett Yorn, Caleb Moster, Trevor Gartenman and Peter Heil
4 x 800 team of Garrett Yorn, Connor Bell, Chris Riffle and Caleb Moster
Sprint Medely team of Jacob Koehne, Cody Reer, Tom Chaffee and Peter Heil

4th places goes to:

Samantha Heidlage-shot put

Jacob Koehne-200m dash
Connor Bell-800m run

The only 6th place was the Sprint Medley team of Zach Mears, Caleb Pierson, Alex Jorgensen and Trevor Gartenman

God’s Bright Treasures Ministry is collecting 7,500 pairs of shoes to raise funds for our center, to help those in need and to keep shoes from going into the landfills. We are asking for the community’s help to accomplish this. We have already collected 2,600 pairs so far! God’s Bright Treasures is a non-profit child care facility in Bright, Indiana. We have a shoe collection box at the business of Quality Auto Mart at 7307 St. Rd. 46 E., Batesville, IN 47041 or they can bring their shoes to our location at 25365 State Line Road, Bright, IN 47025. Please clean out your unwanted, gently worn, used shoes and donate them. Efforts to help ensure a sufficient blood supply for patients during the holiday season are underway. Patients don’t get a holiday from needing donated blood! How to donate blood Simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.   Places to donate: redcross
