Barbara L. Huntington

barb-huntington-oneA lifelong resident of Osgood, Barbara L. Huntington, age 76, passed away with her family at her side on Sunday, October 23 at Manderley Health Care Facility in Osgood.  Barbara was born on May 16, 1940, the daughter of the late Omer and Marie Morton.  She grew up in a house just on the outside of Osgood that was filled with love and family.  She and her brothers and sisters walked to school through the field and grew up Osgood Cowboys.

In the mid 60’s, she met the love of her life, George Huntington, and they were married on February 11, 1967.  To this marriage three children were born, sons Stephen and Leonard and daughter Pam.  George and Barbara moved to the home place on Fairground Road and lived there since 1972.  She worked for years at U.S. Shoe Factory and Vines.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved watching them grow up and having them spend the night.  Many hours were spent tending to her flowers and enjoying the beauty they brought.  One of her favorite pastimes was to simply sit and relax on the front porch, watch the cars go by, and admire her favorite woodpecker, which spent many afternoons by her side.

Barbara was preceded in death by brothers Clarence and Henry; sisters Dorothy Dickson, Joyce Forwalt, Mary Morton, Phyllis Morton, and Martha Morton.  Barbara is survived at home by her husband of 49 years George; sons Stephen and Leonard (Sharon) of Osgood; daughter Pamela of Osgood; brothers Donald (Linda) Morton of Texas, Omer Jr. (Kathy) of Sunma; sisters Helen Bolt of Florida, and Janice Mozingo of Westport. Also surviving are her grandchildren Stephen II and Breanna Huntington, Austin and Kayla Draper; and her great-grandchildren Alias, Miriam, and Koltyn Huntington, and Levi Franklin.  Some of Barbara’s saddest days was with the passing of her special granddaughter Emily Huntington.

Private family services will be held, and burial will be held at Perseverance Cemetery in Osgood.  In lieu of any flowers, the family is asking any memorials be given to the Emily Huntington Scholarship in care of the funeral home.

Neal’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. www.nealsfuneralhome.net
