Aurora’s Former Police Chief Receives Probation

LAWRENCEBURG – The former Aurora police chief will serve one year on probation after he pleaded guilty to battery in a Dearborn County courtroom.

Bryan Fields was arrested in December after police responded to a domestic dispute report at his Aurora home. He was accused of battery against his wife and two children.

A judge dropped two battery-related charges this week as Fields admitted to one count of battery. Fields had served the city for 16 years before resigning in January following his arrest.

Ripley County Prosecutor Ric Hertel was assigned as special prosecutor in the case.
