Anna Mae (Woolums) Works Furnish

Mrs. Anna Mae (Woolums) Works Furnish, age 81, of Hanover, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on May 23, 1933, in Owen County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late, Orman & Mary Blanche (Hopper) Woolums. She was raised in Owen County, Kentucky, where she attended the Owen County High School. Anna was united in marriage in February of 1955 to Wilbur Raymond Works & to this union arrived two daughters, Diane & Kimberly & three sons, Timothy, Jim & Joseph to bless their home. Anna & Wilbur shared several years of marriage together until he passed away on February 28, 1986. Anna was later united in marriage to Earl “Poodle” Furnish. Anna was a former employee of Scudder’s Department Store & the Vevay American Legion Post #185 in Vevay, Indiana. Anna resided in the Madison, Indiana community, since 1988 where she was employed at the Crown Room. Anna enjoyed gardening & flowers. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister & aunt. Anna died at 12:20 pm, Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana.

Anna will be missed by her daughters: Diane R. McClure of Madison, IN, Kimberly R. Jones & her husband: Kenny, Jr. of Madison, IN; her sons: Timothy R. Works of Ludowici, GA, Jim R. Works & his wife: Loretta of Arizona City, AZ, Joseph R. Works & his wife: Beth of Fair Lawn, NJ; her grandchildren: Candi, Mandi, Andrew, Jesica, Josh, Jordan, Jacob, Jessica, Eric, Hannah, Miram, Micah, Naomi, Noah, Lydia, James, Katie, Danny, Dillon, Chase & Dakota; her great-grandchildren: Owen, Henry, Ahlaiah, Silas, Carlin, Chezney, Clay, Hailey, Destiny, Desiree, Ethan, Siera & Aerilyn Faith; her sisters: Roberta Scudder & her husband: Hilbert of Vevay, IN, Winnie “Edwina” Embry & her husband: Harold of Florence, IN; her brother: Rick Woolums & his wife: Kathy of Vevay, IN; her several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Orman & Mary Blanche (Hopper) Woolums; her husband: Wilbur Raymond Works.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 1:00 pm, by Joseph R. Works & Pastor Elizabeth Broadus, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana

Friends may call 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vevay American Legion Post #185 Relief Fund or the Vevay VFW Post #5396 Relief Fund. Cards are available at the funeral home.

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3183 is sponsoring an art contest for students in grades 9-12. The contest is a great way to earn money for college. The art must be on paper or canvas and have a patriotic theme. Digital Art is not accepted. The art must be original. Judging is based on originality, presentation, and patriotism expressed. There are monetary awards given locally and at the state level. The national winners will receive scholarships. Home schooled students are eligible, foreign exchange are not. Your entry must be signed by a teacher. You can obtain an entry form by calling Kay Pulskamp, chairperson at 934-3442. Please submit your art by March 31, 2015. The first place winner will be sent to the State Scholarships Chairman for judging. Your art will be returned to you after judging is complete.
