Alvin W. Maune, age 78, of Cedar Grove, Indiana died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville.
Born January 2, 1936 in Franklin County, Indiana he was the son of the late John E. & Bertha (Trable) Maune. He remained a lifelong resident of Franklin County.
On August 11, 1962 he and the former Carol Ann Bischoff were united in marriage, and she survives.
Mr. Maune was retired from the Maintenance Department at Stant Manufacturing in Connersville where he had worked for many years. He was a Member of Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Cedar Grove; the Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department; as well as the Franklin County Conservation Club.
Besides Carol, his wife of 52 years, survivors include a son, Darren Maune of Cedar Grove, Indiana.
Family & friends may visit from 3 to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Rev. Sean Danda will officiate the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, 10:30 A.M. at Holy Guardian Angels Chapel in Cedar Grove, Indiana. Burial will then follow in Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Cemetery in Cedar Grove.

The Metamora Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their annual firemen’s festival at Gateway Park (across US 52 from Metamora) on Saturday, July 4. Parade starts at 6 pm at the park (route crosses US 52 and goes through Metamora). 3 pm food starts — pulled pork sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, ice cold drinks. Also included are kids’ games, pull tabs, bounce house, slides, tractor pull. Live music by Stagger Lee. Beer garden from 3 pm – 3 am. Fireworks at dusk at Gateway Park.

Come join the Metamora Volunteer Firemen and the Infamous Few Charity Riders for a day of riding and celebration. These men are all volunteers and need our support to keep their firehouse functioning and in good order so they too can help others when called upon! This ride will take us through scenic Franklin and Ripley Counties on a relaxing cruise through the countryside. Please plan on joining us for the entire day, as we will be having breakfast early and attending the Firemen’s Festival afterwards. Registration at the Hearthstone Restaurant: $20 per person / $25 per couple (10 am – 12 pm; breakfast available for purchase) Ride leaves at noon; ends a the firehouse and includes dinner with registration fee (all others are $8 per person)
