A Tip Leads Police To Two Arrests

Police put two in jail following a tip on Friday evening.

Several Indiana State Police troopers went to Canterbury Apartments in Batesville after a tip that 20-year-old Kayla McGovern of Milan was in a specific apartment.

McGovern was wanted in Jefferson County on a warrant for Possession of Cocaine and Theft.

Officers arrived at the apartments and an occupant said McGovern had just left and was on her way to Oldenburg in a black 2003 Ford Focus. Officers searched the area and located the vehicle near Arlington Avenue and State Road 229. Indiana State Tpr. Kyle Stovall initiated the traffic stop and was assisted by several other troopers.

McGovern was a passenger in the vechile and during the course of the traffic stop, the driver, 20-year-old Vanessa Erfmeier of Batesville was found to be in possession of drugs and marijuana.

Bother were taken into custody without incident and McGovern was transported to Jefferson County.

Erfmeier went to the Franklin County Jail and is currently charged with Posession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Class D Felony), Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance (Class D Felony), and Possession of Marijuana (Class A Misdemeanor).
