#9 Scott Dixon’s Team After Winning the 2014 Pit Stop Challenge

It’s been a pretty good run for Scott Dixon, and his team, so far this season. They’re currently ranked 5th in the points standings, and even though they haven’t won a race yet, they can file a “W” under the Month of May by winning today’s Pit Stop Challenge. Always one of the favorite events of Carb Day at IMS, it was even more exhilarating with a close finish between Dixon and rookie Sage Karam.

When asked how many pit stops they plan on making during the 500 miles, Scott Dixon said, “You plan definitely on 7, 8, 9 I think depending on how strategy plays out.”

According to Dixon’s Chief, “not a huge amount of practice throughout the season [goes into pit stops.] Mainly just on race weekends we try to get a few in during the sessions unless we’re having big problems.”

As for how practice went today, Dixon and fellow team member Tony Kanaan had  the top two fastest laps around the oval.

Dixon said the speed in his car is decent and that, “The consistency of the 9 car felt great and we’ve got a great shot at trying to win this race.” He also stated that he’s not sure why everyone is surprised that he and TK came out with the fastest cars today. He brought up the fact that they’ve been pretty consistent every day with their cars, all but the first day of qualifying.
